NEW CARROLLTON, Md. — The Maryland Transit Administration reported that a pedestrian was struck and killed by an Amtrak train near New Carrollton station Monday evening.
MARC Penn Line train 453 and 548 were both been canceled due to the incident.
Amtrak said train 861 was involved and was traveling from Philadelphia to Washington D.C. when the incident occurred. No passengers or crew members were injured.
Passengers on board will be transferred to Amtrak train 193 to complete the trip.
Officials say commuters who were scheduled to board other Penn Line trains are encouraged to find other means of transportation as delays continue.
