A father and his two sons were involved in a small plane emergency landing Friday afternoon.
Maryland State Police say the plane, piloted by Chris Curry, 32 of Odenton, took off from Tipton Airfield in Fort Meade when the pilot of the aircraft had to make an emergency landing due to loss of rotational power on the engine.
Curry told police he noticed smoke coming from the engine compartment.
The pilot was able to make a landing, hitting just a guardrail and a light pole on an exit ramp near I-97 southbound. Officials say the plane was on its way to land at Lee Airport in Anne Arundel County.

Paramedics arrived on the scene to evaluate the passengers. No injuries were reported. No other vehicles were involved.
The plane was towed away and the ramp reopened around 6 p.m.
The Federal Aviation Administration and The National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the incident.
