CROFTON, Md. — Police are investigating how a 29-year-old Crofton man crashed into a tree that took his life.
It happened around 9:45 a.m. Saturday on Riedel Road near Farmingham Lane.
Anne Arundel County Police say Harshal Bipin Chandra Patel was driving northeast on Riedel Road, when for some reason his Nissan Xterra jumped a curb and struck a tree. Medics pronounced Patel dead on scene.
Investigators believe Patel failed to remain in control of the vehicle, but don't believe speeding played a role. It's unclear at this point if alcohol or drugs were involved.
