HARWOOD, Md. — Officials say a 50-year-old man was killed in a single car crash on Friday.

At about 11:25 a.m., officers arrived to Muddy Creek Road, near Lansdale Road, for a single vehicle crash. After investigating, officers discovered that the 1998 Ford Crown Victoria was traveling southbound on Muddy Creek Road approaching Lansdale Road, in Harwood, when, for an unknown reason, it crossed the center of the roadway and went into a drainage ditch on the left side of the road. The Ford briefly went airborne across a driveway and ended up hitting several trees.

The driver, who has been identified as Myron Pindell, of Annapolis, was pronounced dead at the scene and was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy.

The primary cause of the crash was Pindell failing to stay in a single lane. Speed does not appear to be a factor. However, drugs and alcohol remain unknown until the toxicology results are revealed.

The Traffic Safety Section is handling this crash investigation.
