FORT MEADE, Md. (AP) - The effects of a nearby lightning strike forced officials at Fort Meade to cancel its National Night Out festivities.
Post spokeswoman Mary Boyle said the event was already delayed for 30 minutes Tuesday because of weather. She said six people suffered secondary effects of lightning, and one of them was taken to Baltimore Washington Medical Center for treatment. No serious injuries were reported
Boyle said officials tried to wait out the weather, but when it became apparent that it wasn't going to change, the decision was made to cancel. She said there would not be a makeup date for this year.
