An 85-year-old Annapolis man died after being involved in a crash in Glen Burnie last week. Anne Arundel County Police say officers were called to the crash scene Friday at 3:30 p.m. in the area of Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard at Kuethe Rd. Police believe a Jeep being driven north by 85-year-old John Payne Jackson failed to stop at a stop sign before continuing into an intersection.

A 2015 Isuzu NPR box truck traveling east struck the jeep. Mr. Jackson was alert and conscious after the accident and was rushed to Shock Trauma in Baltimore. The driver of the truck, 62-year-old Richard Hartloff Sr. of Baltimore, was taken to Harbor Hospital with minor injuries.

Mr. Jackson died Friday evening at Shock Trauma. Police say the cause of the crash was the failure to stop at the intersection however based on witness accounts, a medical emergency may have contributed to the crash.

Police say it does not appear that speed, drugs or alcohol were factors.

The Traffic Safety Section will continue to investigate and charges, if any, will be after review by the State’s Attorney.
