Democrats in Anne Arundel county called for a newly elected county council chairman to resign over ties to Alabama Senate candidate Roy Moore.
Michael Peroutka was voted in as chairman last week.
Officials said the republican has donated to Moore's campaigns and campaigned on his behalf.
Moore faces allegations that he sexually assaulted teenage girls while in his 30s. Moore denies the accusations.
According to officials, Peroutka has defended Moore.
