SEVERN, Md. — Almost a dozen occupants have been displaced and an Anne Arundel County firefighter was transported to a hospital following a Severn fire.
Officials say firefighters responded to a 911 call that reported a townhouse fire in the 8400 block of Pioneer Drive. Fire crews arrived and saw fire showing through the roof and two two-story, middle of the group homes, were in danger.
With the help of 46 firefighters, the fire was under control in about 45 minutes. However, extensive damage was done to the homes at 8493 and 8495 Pioneer Drive. Lesser damage was reported at 8491, 8497 and 8499 Pioneer Drive. Due to the damage, none of the five homes can be occupied.
A total of 10 occupants have been displaced, with five being assisted by the Red Cross.
The Anne Arundel Fire Department says one firefighter was transported to Baltimore Washington Medical Center, in good condition, with a medical related issue that was identified by paramedics while the firefighter was in the rehab process.
The cause of this fire is still under investigation.
