Annapolis community supports injured officer

Posted

When people are in trouble, the first ones to respond are men and women in blue. When an officer needed help, the community stepped in.

Officer Michael Macri was involved in a crash on October 5, 2016. He was responding to a shots fired call.

"He suffered a fractured vertebra, he also suffered a traumatic brain injury," said corporal Amy Miguez. "Those will take a long time to recover from."

The medical bills are piling up for Macri and the community wants to help.

Kurt Beall, the owner of Heroes Pub in Annapolis, is organizing a fundraiser for Macri.

"The environment out there today, it's hard on these guys," he said. "I see it from the back side, they talk to me about it, they deal with being unappreciated. We're a place where they can come and we support them."

The fundraiser for Macri is Monday, April 10 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. The pub will donate 20 percent of your purchase to Officer Macri and his family.
