Officers were notified of a child being sexually abused from the family of a 12-year-old Annapolis girl on May 1. The family of the victim believed she had sexual contact with the adult male, police identified as 21-year-old Neftali Chavez.

The department said the family came to this conclusion based on home items and electronic evidence.
