Community policing was the theme today in Annapolis. Officers gathered at Allen Apartments in Annapolis to show members of the community that they aren’t just around when things go wrong, but they are truly a part of the community,
Standing at the grill flipping burgers Lt. Frashure said “the cookout is a chance for police and residents to get to know each other in a more relaxed atmosphere.”
As children, adults, and pets enjoyed the weather and the food, the mission of bringing community and police together was met.
“It's a great opportunity for our officers to come out, dress down a little bit and interact with members of our community. Let them know we are here to keep them safe, not just to arrest people and we're not just around when bad things happen.” Said Frashure
This is the first community social the police have had here in Annapolis this summer and by the reaction of the residents and the police, they tell me this won't be the last
