This time of year, everyone is hunting for and taking advantage of great deals.

Though the gift-giving may have subsided, Anne Arundel County Animal Control is boasting a deal where the price is right and the love is never ending.

How about free!

Anne Arundel County's Animal Control Center has reached it's capacity for cats so, they are offering free cats to those that qualify for a good home.

“It's one of the reasons we look for outside of the box ideas to help animals move into homes rather than having to consider euthanasia,” said Robin Catlett, an administrator for the shelter.

They haven't had to go the way of euthanasia in quite some time, and they would like to keep it that way. This is no bait-and-switch proposition with hidden cost, these frisky felines are really free.

“It really is free and it includes spay or neuter, if the animal wasn't already spayed or neutered when it arrived,“ Catlett said. “Distemper vaccine, rabies vaccine, deworming and a micro-chip, and, if your in Anne Arundel County, a license.”

Joe Williams was here looking around. He likes the price and thinks it might help with his sales pitch to his wife to bring home a new family member.

“[It] helps to pay the bills when you got a free cat,“ Williams said. “Don't have to talk the wife into it quite as much.

When you see how cute these fur balls of love are, the only decision you'll have to make may be how many to take home!

The free cat program started Dec. 1, and it will continue until they have room for more cats here at the animal control center.
