A high school student uses a racial slur after the school's basketball team lost.

The Broadneck student used the slur in a Snapchat message following their game against Annapolis High School Monday night.

In a letter to parents, Broadneck's principal Jim Todd says he believes the slur was sent to one person and then it was subsequently posted online after the one-point loss. He called the post "outrageous, deplorable and entirely unacceptable."

The student was not in school Tuesday and will face disciplinary action.

Broadneck High School's athletic department released this statement on the incident:

Many of our student-athletes, parents, supporters, fans, and community members are aware of an online posting that was made by one of our students after our boys basketball game against Annapolis High School last night. The Broadneck High School Athletics Department, Coaches, and Student-Athletes stand united in condemning the language that was directed at our neighbors. Our athletics program has no place in it for people who hold these views.
