Passengers using the MARC train station at BWI will see a lot of activity starting on Monday as crews kick off a 14-month construction project.
While things may look hectic, it is important to know the station is still open during construction for both train and bus services. You'll also find a temporary station at the northern end for MARC and Amtrak passengers to buy tickets.
This is all part of a nearly $5 million dollar renovation of the current station. Once the project is completed, travelers will see a new ticketing facility and restrooms, plus more places to sit and wait for a train, along with places to get something to eat.
Work on the new train station should be done by the end of next year and officials expect it to not only look better than it does now but to be a better experience for passengers.
There's a new accessible ramp for wheelchair access to the temporary station and there are also are a lot of signs in the area directing people to help you get around the changes.
