GLEN BURNIE, Md. — Preparing the food is apparently the easy part, but then you have to get it to the customer.

For now, each time Alasan Samba hangs up the phone and sends one of his delivery drivers out the door with an order, he holds his breath and hopes for the best.

"Everybody's scared. Everybody's scared right now. Everybody's scared,” repeated Samba. “Last night, after this happened, I think two drivers checked out and they went home, because they're really scared."

It was just before 10 o'clock Thursday night when one of their colleagues from Pizza Boli's drove a little over two miles away to make a delivery at an apartment community in the 7800 block of Tall Pines Court in Glen Burnie, but it's now believed it was all a set up.

"He was jumped by three males,” said Sgt. Jacklyn Davis of the Anne Arundel County Police Department. “Those males beat him up relatively well. He ended up having to seek medical treatment at a hospital. They stole personal property from him, food and his vehicle."

Police are still searching for the victim's 2003 model Honda and his attackers.

While its motto is "We Deliver More", back at the restaurant, Samba is left wondering if his drivers will stick around for their full shifts tonight or if he'll be able to hire enough drivers in the future as long as there are people out there treating delivery drivers like easy targets.

"Nobody's going to want to work like the night time. They beat you, rob you, take your money and you've got family,” said Samba. "We want to open business to make people happy, but not to make people lose their lives so we're not really happy for that."

Anyone with information about the robbery is asked to call police at 410-222-6135 or the tip line at 410-222-4700.
