GLEN BURNIE, Md. — The Anne Arundel Police Department is investigating a fatal crash that happened Saturday morning.

At a little before 11:45 a.m., officers arrived to MD 100 East, at Quarterfield Road, for a two-vehicle crash. Officials say a 2006 Toyota Scion was traveling eastbound on MD 100 when the driver lost control and struck a guardrail on the right shoulder. The Toyota then crossed back into the traffic lanes where it flipped onto a 2017 Honda Civic that was also traveling eastbound on MD 100.

The driver of the Toyota, who has been identified as 36-year-old Paul Pinkston of Glen Burnie, was pronounced dead at the scene and the driver and one year old baby in the Honda were taken to an area hospital. Only the driver, who has been identified as 22-year-old Diana Ventura, suffered minor injuries. The baby was not injured.

The preliminary cause of the crash appears to be Pinkston failing to remain in a single lane.

Traffic Safety Section is continuing this investigation.
