ODENTON, Md. (WMAR) — A suspected drunk driver is in custody after striking and killing a 23-year-old motorcycle rider Friday night in Odenton.

Police say 23-year-old Ian Gregory Vangenderen was on his Harley Davidson riding north on Annapolis Road, when he struck a GMC box truck pulling out of a parking lot.

Medics pronounced Vangenderen dead on scene.

The driver of the box truck, 21-year-old Kayla Nicole Joy was not hurt and remained on scene.

Police say Joy was at fault for the crash because she didn't yield to Vangenderen, who had the right of way.

It was also found that Joy was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.

She was arrested and charged with several crimes including homicide by motor vehicle while impaired and under the influence of alcohol as well as manslaughter by motor vehicle with gross and criminal negligence.

Joy is currently being held without bail pending a 1:30 p.m. Monday bond review hearing.
