Five Naval Academy midshipmen face administrative discipline for allegedly using drugs, including cocaine, ketamine, ecstasy, and mushrooms. Four other students face discipline for not reporting the known drug use.
Administrative discipline includes demerits, loss of privileges, restriction, and separation from the Naval Academy.
This is the first time the school is releasing details on the investigation which was first launched back in November.
Commander David McKinney, United States Naval Academy Public Affairs Officer sent a statement on Monday.
Along with details on the investigation, it said the school has a zero tolerance policy when it comes to the use of illegal substances and take all allegations of misconduct seriously.
The students could face court martial. This will be decided after the full NCIS investigation is completed and reviewed.
