GLEN BURNIE, Md. (WMAR) — A former NFL offensive lineman was arrested Tuesday in Glen Burnie on drug and ammunition charges.
Anne Arundel County Police say they were called around 5:10 p.m., for a drug complaint at the Walgreens in the 7900 block of Crain Highway South.
Arriving officers saw a man later identified as 34-year-old Jacob David Bender enter a Jeep Grand Cherokee, and questioned him.
Following their investigation, officers recovered 144 Oxycodone pills worth an estimated $3,600.00 and an additional $4,078.00 from Bender.
Police also carried out a search and seizure warrant at Bender's home on Crainmont Drive, and found 124 total rounds of ammunition, which included 50 -- 9mm handgun rounds, 40 -- .22-250 Remington rifle rounds, and 34 shotgun shells.
In April, Bender pleaded guilty to similar felony drug and weapons charges, stemming from a December 2018 incident. The conviction prohibits him from possessing ammunition.
Bender was born in Mayo in Anne Arundel County, and attended college at Nicholls State.
In 2007, Bender was selected in the sixth round of the NFL Draft by the New York Jets, where he played for one season.
He left the league after spending some of the 2008 season with the San Francisco 49ers.
Bender is currently being held without bond.
