SEVERNA PARK, Md. — The good news is some people wanted to raise money for a memorial to honor four young men from Severna Park that gave the ultimate sacrifice one can give for our country.
The bad news? Others had mischief in mind and did thousands of dollars of damage.
Tom Lindsey, along with three others, are raising money for a Gold Star Memorial along the Severna Park bike path, right across from Woods Memorial church and Severn School.
Lindsey parked his Hummer by the path to garner attention to the memorial. Turns out it caught the eye of someone that had a need to slash all four tires. Replacing them is a lot different then changing tires on the cars you and I own.
"Well, they are just under a thousand dollars a piece," he explained.
So with more than $4,000 damage, Tom has to take time away from he fundraiser to deal with the damage to his Hummer. Police do continue to keep an eye on things here. This memorial is in honor of four young Severna Park men that lost their lives for our freedom.
It’s here to remind us how great a sacrifice these young soldiers made.
