Governor Larry Hogan met with some Gold Star families, those who lost a son or daughter while serving our country.
Thr Governor also unveiled a new Maryland license plate for Gold Star families.
"It's critically important and we've been doing everything we can to recognize our veterans and everybody who has served. In this particular event today we're talking about the fallen soldiers but, every single one of them who served our nation deserves our utmost respect and appreciation and we try to show it every chance we get."
There is a monument honoring Gold Star families in Annapolis at the World War II Memorial that overlooks the Severn River.
Hogan also proclaimed May Gold Star Awareness Month.
