ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Advocates were in Annapolis on Wednesday to push for stricter gun laws in Maryland.
Volunteers, survivors of gun violence and policy experts testified in support of legislation that would require background checks on all long gun sales.
"The thing is, long guns and rifles are just as dangerous as long guns and hand guns but with hand guns in Maryland you do have to do a criminal background check on every purchase of a hand gun."
Currently background checks are not required when unlicensed sellers sell rifles and shotguns online or at gun shows.
