GLEN BURNIE, Md. — A homeowner was arrested after allegedly shooting a teen for damaging his property.
It happened just before 10 p.m. Tuesday in the 300 block of Columbus Road in Glen Burnie.
Anne Arundel County Police say they were originally called by 46-year-old Roy Allen Birk who wanted to report problems he'd been having with juveniles damaging his property.
While officers were headed to Brik's home, another call came in for a teen who walked into an area hospital with a gunshot wound.
The teen said he was shot on Columbus Road.
Police later found out that Birk heard a loud noise outside his home, near his vehicle. That's when Birk saw the teen and fired one gunshot from inside the home, hitting him in the upper body.
Birk was then arrested and charged with attempted first and second degree murder, assault, and gun charges.
The teen suffered non-life threatening injuries.
Police didn't say if there was any evidence that the teen damaged Birk's property.
Birk is currently being held without bail pending an October 3 review hearing.
