FORT MEADE, Md. (WMAR) — An ineligible player has forced their high school girls basketball team to forfeit a playoff win.

Meade High defeated Old Mill on Monday in a Class 4A East Region I semifinal game.

One of the schools reported that the Mustangs used an ineligible player in the game, prompting the school system to launch an investigation.

The player's name isn't being released at this time, nor is the reason for their ineligibility.

Not only does the forfeit put Old Mill back in the playoffs, the player involved is banned from participating in any school athletics for 60-days.

The Patriots will now go onto play top-seeded Howard on Wednesday.
