LAUREL, Md. (WMAR) — Anne Arundel County Police say they've launched an internal investigation into allegations that an officer ran someone over with a police cruiser.

The alleged incident happened around 10 p.m. Saturday at a vacant lot around the Corridor Marketplace on Laurel Fort Meade Road.

Members of the fire department had called police, reporting that about 200 people were gathered at the location to watch an illegal car race.

Officials say the accused officer responded to the location, and pulled his car into the crowd, striking at least one onlooker.

The victim sustained minor injuries.

Police have not identified the officer involved.

No arrests were made related to the event.
