Lauer's Supermarket & Bakery is closing both of its locations in Anne Arundel County.
The owners made the announcement in a letter posted to their Facebook page.
"To own and operate two supermarkets in the same community was a dream come true for the Lauer family," said owners Bernadette Snoops and Babette Poyer in that letter.
"After 45 years, we have made the very difficult decision to end the Lauer’s tradition in Pasadena. It has been an incredible journey for the Lauer family to serve and be part of the Pasadena community."
In 1974, Ed and Helen Lauer opened their first supermarket on Mountain Road in Pasadena. In 1982, they acquired the Acme Supermarket in Riviera Beach. In 1988 they built a larger store on Edwin Raynor Boulevard to replace the original location.
The Chesterfield location will close on September 30, 2019 . Followed by the closing of the Riviera Beach location on October 14, 2019.
Both locations will be maintained as independent family supermarkets.
Geresbeck’s Food Market acquired the Riviera Beach location. Green Valley Marketplace will own and operate the Chesterfield location.
