Man arrested and charged in Brooklyn for being in possession of a rifle and drugs

BROOKLYN, Md. — Anne Arundel County Police say a man was arrested and charged after officers found drugs and a rifle in his vehicle during a traffic stop.

On Tuesday, at around 9:30 p.m., Northern District Tactical Patrol Unit Detectives initiated a traffic stop near 5501 Ritchie Highway for a moving violation and a safety equipment violation. After being given permission to search the vehicle, officers found the following in the vehicle:

- 10 oxycodone, 5 mg ($5/pill)
- About 55.6 grams of marijuana
- A loaded .22 caliber Chiappa rifle; the inserted magazine held 26 rounds of ammunition
- $2,421 in US Currency

Andre Lamar Arthur, of the 200 block of Edgevale Road in Baltimore, has been charged with possession of marijuana, possession with intent to distribute oxycodone, firearm/drug trafficking, controlled dangerous substance distribution with firearm, and firearm use in felony.
