Police arrest suspect after man is found dead in Annapolis

ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Annapolis Police have arrested a suspect in a March 15, 2020 homicide.

At the time, the department said they received a call about shots fired in the unit block of Bens Drive at Bay Ridge Gardens.

When officers arrived to the scene, they found Leslie Saunders, 49, between two apartment buildings, with gunshot wounds. According to police, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators believe the shooting took place where police found the victim.

Police say on April 3, 2020, they arrested Michael Gibson, 21, of Annapolis. He was arrested without incident in the unit block of Old Mill Bottom Road, MD.

Detectives identified Gibson as a suspect in this murder. Gibson was charged with first and second degree murder and seven other criminal charges related to the crime. He is being held at the Jennifer Road Detention Center without bond.
