GLEN BURNIE, Md. — A motorcyclist was killed Thursday evening in Anne Arundel County after running into the back of a car.

On Thursday, at around 7:55 pm, officers responded to Crain Highway and 5th Avenue SW in Glen Burnie for a crash involving a motorcycle.

A Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling south on Crain Highway, approaching the intersection of 5th Avenue. Simultaneously, a Hyundai was traveling north on Crain Highway, approaching 5th Avenue. The driver of the Hyundai, which was in front of the motorcycle, attempted to make a left turn onto 5th Avenue SW, but the motorcycle struck the rear of the Hyundai.

The rider was thrown from the motorcycle and came to rest in the roadway. The Motorcycle, however, continued off the right side of the roadway where it struck a pole and a utility box.

The rider of the motorcycle, who has been identified as 64-year-old Stanley Dorsey, of Annapolis, was pronounced dead on the scene by Anne Arundel County Fire Department personnel. His was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for an autopsy.

The driver of the Hyundai, who has been identified as 30-year-old Kaundra Bell, of Baltimore, was not injured.

The primary cause of the crash appears to be the Bell failing to yield the right of way to the motorcycle. This case is still under investigation.
