Maryland State Police are investigating a multi-vehicle accident in which one person was pronounced dead Thursday afternoon, the Maryland State Police confirmed.
According to a tweet from the agency's account, @MDSHA, a multi-vehicle crash had closed southbound I-97 at the MD 32/MD 3 split, causing major delays. A subsequent tweet about 45 minutes later said one lane of traffic was open. Views from traffic cams should extensive delays in the area.
MDSHA said the person who died was traveling in a car with four occupants.
Neither the State Police nor MDSHA could provide additional details.
