SEVERN, Md. (WMAR) — The iconic Oscar Mayer Wienermobile made a stop in Anne Arundel County on Thursday.

As part of its annual “coast-to-coast wienie roast,” the 27-foot-long hotdog on wheels held a free pop-up event outside the Walmart in Severn.

Visitors were offered tours and photo-ops of the famous vehicle, which included giveaways of the famed wiener whistle.

Oscar Mayer’s nephew, Carl, built the Wienermobile in 1936 during the Great Depression.

Young men and women are hired to drive the Wienermobile thousands of miles across the country as official company spokespeople, spreading what Oscar Mayer calls “miles and miles of smiles."
