If you live here, you are fully aware the Chesapeake Bay and all its tributaries are one of the biggest charms of Maryland and to keep it that way the water has to stay clean.
There's one Annapolis man that's doing everything he can to make sure it's stays that way.
Chris Hopkinson discovered the beauty of the Bay by paddle boarding. So he decided he wanted to raise money to add more oysters to the bay. His daughter Emma joined him today on his training run.
Chris wants to paddle from Havre de Grace to Virginia Beach, that's about 240 miles in nine days. He is doing this to benefit the Oyster Recovery Partnership.
Flying Dog Brewery and Salt Life have sponsored him, he is hoping to raise $200,000. Chris says if you pitch in just $10 to the cause, it will make a difference.
" I'm incredibly grateful to have the opportunity to live here that my future generation, our kids are able to enjoy it as much as he have," he said.
Chris will be paddling along the same routes Captain John Smith did when he came up the bay in 1608.
