SEVERN, Md. (WMAR) — A nanny is facing charges after a mother caught her on camera giving pills to her 2-year-old child.

Shannon Michelle Emery, 38, was arrested Monday on charges of second degree child abuse, neglect of a minor, and reckless endangerment.

Anne Arundel County Detectives first began investigating on January 11, when they were called to the 8200 block of Saint Francis Drive in Severn.

The child's mother told police she had suspicions Emery was giving the child unauthorized pills.

When the mother reviewed home video, she was proven right.

The pills reportedly made the child sleep for several hours, causing the mother to have to take the child to a doctor.

Police searched Emery's home in Sunderland, and found several pieces of evidence including antihistamines.

It was enough for investigators to get an arrest warrant.

Anne Arundel County Police are still continuing their investigation and are urging any other victims to call the Child Abuse Unit at 410-222-4733.
