Police were able to arrest man after robbing Annapolis store from tips matching his description

ANNAPOLIS, Md. — Annapolis Police arrested and charged a man for robbing a store in Eastport Wednesday night.

At 9:16 p.m., officers responded to reports of an armed robbery at a store in the 400-499 block of Sixth Street. When police arrived, the clerk told officers that a man walked into the store with a handgun.

That's when suspect threatened to shoot her, if she didn't give him any money. Police said the suspect took the money and fled the store.

After receiving tips of a man matching the description of the suspect, officers were able to locate and identify the robber as 42-year-old Philip Hyman in the 1100 block of Madison Street.

The department said when they arrested Hyman, he didn't have a gun on him. He was arrested and charged with armed robbery, robbery, first and second degree assault and theft.

Hyman is being held at the Jennifer Road Detention Center without bond.
