A prison cell was damaged in Jessup after it caught on fire from an electrical overload on Tuesday.
Anne Arundel Fire Department said the cell had four power strips plugged into each other and were powering multiple devices within the cell. The fire was discovered by staff members and officials say there were no inmates inside at the time.
Officials say there was $1,500 of damage to the cell and $500 of damage to the contents inside.
