A student at Chesapeake High School is accusing a teacher of using a racial slur toward him in class.
"I was sitting down so he like leaned in on me," said Jordan Keemer, 10th grader.
He talked about the alleged incident at a press conference Tuesday.
His mom, Nichole Keemer said "He said it just loud enough so Jordan could hear him but nobody else could hear him."
Jordan's parents reported the February 14 incident to school officials. The Keemers felt the incident was not taken seriously by the school.
The Keemers said the teacher was allowed to retire a couple weeks later without any discipline.
Bob Mosier with Anne Arundel County Public Schools said the teacher's alleged statement was looked into but he could not comment because it was a personnel issue.
This press conference also addressed a social media post that threatened to "kill all the blacks." The Keemers said this is just more proof of an unsafe environment at Chesapeake High School.
The school says the social media threat was addressed. The board of education and the Anne Arundel County Police Department were involved in the investigation.
Ryan Frashure with the Anne Arundel County Police Department said two people were identified in that case.
"One was identified as a white female student who kind of forwarded the message and we also located and identified a second individual who was responsible for the main post, the racial post. He was identified as a student at the school as well. He was an African-American male that admitted to posting that threat, sent it to himself via a fake SnapChat account."
