A search is underway for a missing kayaker in the Severn River.
Officials say the boat capsized in Chase Creek as two construction workers were aboard attempting to recover a platform that broke free inside the water.
One worker was rescued, and is in stable condition at Anne Arundel County Medical Center.
The second individual remains missing, and is believed to not be equipped with a life vest.
Natural Resources Police say the water temperature at the time was 47 degrees. Additionally, authorities report Gale 4 warnings were in effect, as winds reached 30 mph with 41 mph gusts.
A Maryland State Police Helicopter located the kayak.
Crews from Maryland Natural Resources Police and Annapolis and Anne Arundel County Fire Departments are canvassing. Efforts will halt at dark, and resume in the morning, weather permitting.
