The Anne Arundel County Department of Health lifted its no swimming/no direct water contact advisory for several county beaches Wednesday.
The original advisories affected the Annapolis beaches of Bay Ridge Beach at Bay Drive and Chesapeake Bay Foundation Beach, Atlantic Marina Resort in Pasadena, and Beverly Beach in Edgewater.
The original advisories were prompted by high bacteria levels found in water samples from the five beaches. The department routinely samples and tests water at county beaches to ensure they remain at levels that meet U. S. Environmental Protection Agency standards.
The most recent water quality reports can be found on the health department's website.
The department reminds residents that after any rainfall of half-an-inch or more, all Anne Arundel County beaches are under a no swimming/no direct water contact advisory for 48 hours.
