Police responded to two separate accidents in Anne Arundel County Thursday, both of which resulted in a fatality.
Around 1:30 p.m., officers responded to a report of a single commercial vehicle on southbound Crain Highway at McKnew Road in Crofton. Police said the truck ran off the left side of the road, hitting a tree and turning over onto its side. The driver was taken to Baltimore Washington Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries.
Police said the preliminary cause of the accident appeared to the driver's failing to stay in a single lane, or that it could have been medical-related. The cause didn't appear to be alcohol or speed related, according to police.
Just a few hours later, officers responded to a single vehicle crash on Brock Ridge Road in Laurel around 5 p.m.
Police said the sedan was westbound when it ran off the right side of the roadway and hit a tree. The driver was taken by ground to Shock Trauma on a precautionary basis and died approximately three hours later from his injuries. A cause of death has not yet been determined.
Police said that the preliminary cause doesn't appear to be speed or alcohol related.
