DAVIDSONVILLE, Md. (WMAR) — Three people were seriously injured in an overnight ATV crash in Anne Arundel County.
Fire and rescue crews were called around 12:40 a.m. Saturday to the 700 block of Governors Bridge Road in Davidsonville.
Arriving units found two women ages 21 and 23 and a 21-year-old man injured, at the bottom of a steep embankment about a half mile into the woods.
An investigation revealed the three were riding an ATV when somehow they went off a riding trail and rolled down the embankment.
Witnesses reported that the ATV ended up on top of the riders pinning them. Luckily, bystanders were able to remove the ATV before emergency crews got on scene.
All three riders were helicoptered to University of Maryland Prince George's Hospital Center with serious injuries but are expected to survive.
It's unclear what caused the crash and if any drugs or alcohol were involved.
