MILLERSVILLE, Md. — Two people were seriously injured, and an elderly woman was hurt, in a three-car accident Sunday morning in Harwood.

The Anne Arundel County Fire Department received a call at about 7:25 a.m. for reports of an accident on Solomons Island Road, near Gray Beech Court.

Firefighters said a 21-year-old man sideswiped a car driven by a 68-year-old woman. She ended up off the road and was later brought to Anne Arundel Medical Center with minor injuries. The 21 year old continued down the road and struck another vehicle head on.

The 48-year-old male driver of that sedan, as well as his 49-year-old female passenger, were both taken to University of Maryland Prince George’s Hospital Center with serious injuries that were not thought to be life threatening. The man was taken to the hospital by a medevac helicopter, while the woman was taken by paramedics.

The 21-year-old driver did not need treatment for his injuries.
