Three jockeys injured in "three-horse spill" at Laurel Park Racetrack

LARUEL, Md. — Three jockeys were injured during a “three-horse spill” at Laurel Park Racetrack Friday afternoon, the Anne Arundel County Fire Department said.

A 29-year-old man and a 24-year-old man, both jockeys, were taken to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore with injuries thought to be serious but not life-threatening, fire officials said.

A 45-year-old man, also a jockey, was taken to the University of Maryland Prince George’s Hospital Center with injuries also thought to be non life-threatening.

The spill occurred at roughly 3:12 p.m. Friday during the sixth race of the day at the track.
