ANNAPOLIS, Md. — A man wanted in Florida was arrested outside an Annapolis Red Roof Inn Hotel, after allegedly coughing in the face of an officer while claiming to have COVID-19.

Anne Arundel County Police were called around 10 p.m. Wednesday for a man trespassing at the hotel on Riva Road.

Officers found 29-year-old Jerry Vincent Pippin outside in a vehicle, and learned he had and extraditable arrest warrant out of Florida.

Police say Pippin told them he had the coronavirus, and started coughing in their face.

The suspect was booked on the Florida warrant and charged in Maryland with assault and failure to comply with the Governor's stay-at-home order.

Police list Pippin as living at a Glen Burnie address. It's unclear if Pippin has COVID-19, and what he was wanted for in Florida.
