Young campers get science lessons

Posted

Camp Sunrise comes to a close Saturday at Elk's Camp Barrett in Annapolis.

The week long overnight camp for pediatric oncology patients and survivors is held every year. It's organized and run by the Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center. The goal is to provide children affected by cancer a normal camping experience.

On Tuesday kids got a visit from a special guest. Doctor Kate Biberdorf, an associate professor at the University of Texas at Austin stopped by to teach campers about science.

Doctor Biberdorf is known for developing explosive demonstrations. Outside the classroom she spends time at her outreach program Fun with Chemistry.
