Port Discovery Children's Museum got additional support for their new SkyClimber exhibit thanks to a $250,000 grant from the Abbott Fund, the philanthropic end of the global healthcare company Abbott.

The new exhibit allows children to "climb up 'into the clouds'" using a series of platforms inside seamless netting, the museum said. It is designed to improve motor skill development, physical fitness, and self confidence in children. It is set to open in 2019 as part of the museum's Playing Today, Learning Tomorrow Capital Campaign for Port Discovery, which brings "transformational exhibits, expanded programming and Museum updates to the children and families of Baltimore and Maryland," the museum said.

“Support from the Abbott Fund will make it possible for Port Discovery to deliver its mission of playful learning to the children of Maryland,” Bryn Parchman, President & CEO of Port Discovery Children’s Museum, said in a statement. “We are so grateful for the Abbott Fund’s generous support of our project."
