Nine shot, two dead over weekend in Baltimore

BALTIMORE — Baltimore Police are investigating eight shootings over the weekend, including two that were fatal.

Sunday:

10:27 p.m.

On Sunday night officers were called to a double shooting in the southern part of Baltimore city. Officers arrived at the 1100 block of Bayard Street and found a 22-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his face and a 21-year-old man with a gunshot wound to his chest. Both were taken to the hospital for treatment.

Preliminary investigations reveal both men were leaving a bar in the area when they were shot by a unidentified person.

9:29 p.m.

A robbery led to the shooting of a 19-year-old man in northeast Baltimore. Officers were called to a Baltimore hospital after reports of a walk-in shooting victim.

Officers spoke with the victim, a 19-year-old man, and discovered the man was getting off the bus at East Belvedere and The Alameda when he was approached by two men armed with guns and wearing ski masks. The men announced a robbery and demanded the victim's belongings.

The 19-year-old only had a cellphone on him, but reportedly refused to unlock it for the men. The man tried to run away but was shot in the arm by the suspects.

6:03 p.m.

Baltimore Police responded to the 1100 block of E. North Avenue for gunshots heard in the area. Upon their arrival officers found no victim. A short time later a 22-year-old man walked into an area hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg. Investigators determined the incident occurred in the 1100 block of E. North Avenue.

4:10 a.m.

Police were called to investigate a shooting in the 1900 block of Harman Avenue. Officers were unable to find a victim on the scene. They later found a 26-year-old male shooting victim at an area hospital. He was being treated for a gunshot wound to his hand.

A person of interest was taken into custody on Harman Avenue.

2:16 a.m.

Northwest District officers responded to an area hospital for a reported walk-in shooting victim. When they arrived, officers found a 24-year old woman being treated by hospital staff for a gunshot wound to her leg.

Investigators believe the woman was in the 3800 block of Cottage Avenue when she was shot by an unknown suspect.

Saturday:

4:40 p.m.

Officers were called to the 2500 block of Edgecombe Circle North for a report of gunshots being fired in that area. When officers arrived, they found a 26-year-old man with multiple gunshot wounds to his body.

The victim was transported to an area hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

11:05 a.m.

Police were dispatched to the 2600 block of Ridgely Street for a report of a person who stopped breathing. Officers then located an unconscious adult male in the rear of the location. The man was pronounced dead on scene.

The following day, an autopsy found the victim had been shot.

9:19 p.m.

Southern District officers responded to a call for a shooting in the unit block of E. Heath Street, Saturday night. There, they found a 33-year old man with a gunshot wound to his leg. The victim was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

Investigators believe the victim was approached by two unknown suspects who attempted to rob him, in the unit block of E. Barney Street. During the robbery, one of the suspects shot the victim. The suspects then fled from the location.
