Baltimore Air Marshal recognized as trailblazer by TSA

Posted

A Federal Air Marshal for the Baltimore region was recognized for blazing a path for women in a non-traditional career as part of the Transportation Security Administration's Women's Equality Day celebration.

Alexis L. Smollock received the Trailblazer Award for 2018. She has been with the Federal Air Marshal Service since 2006 and currently serves as the supervisory TSA Federal Air Marshal in charge of the Baltimore Field Office, where she handles the strategic and operational management of law enforcement resources for the state.

Smollock was a Special Agent with the FBI for 10 years prior to joining the Air Marshals. As a member of that agency, Smollock worked in the Newark, N.J. Field Division and at the National Counterterrorism Center in Northern Virginia.

Recognized as a highly accomplished leader at the TSA, Smollock has actively worked to raise awareness about barriers that impact women's careers. She has pushed the organization to make a more inclusive work environment, altering an institutional culture in an effort to both retain and promote women into leadership positions.
