BALTIMORE — On Wednesday, the Baltimore City Recreation and Parks unveiled Greenmount Recreation Center's new green space.
The outdoor play space was once a warehouse and a series of vacant lots. Now, it has new play lawns, a rock climbing wall, a human-sized chessboard and outdoor seating.
"All communities need spaces where they can come to...enjoy playing chess or some music," said Bob Wall, Deputy Director of Recreation.
The space also has a new mural by local artist Ernest Shaw. It will be used for outdoor activities and community gatherings.
