BALTIMORE — In 2019, Baltimore City Officials acknowledged that they failed to send water bills to one of the most high-end condominiums complexes for nearly 12 years.
This issue, which involved The Ritz Carlton Condominiums, got a lot of attention and, in October 2019, Mayor Jack Young announced that the City would start auditing its water billing system by comparing account records to property records and by also comparing development permits to existing accounts.
The purpose of the audits was to look for and fix any billing irregularities, as well as, come up with solutions to help prevent this from happening in the future.
These results are expected to be released in May.
However, in January, City County President Brandon Scott called for an Oversight Hearing.
That hearing is scheduled for Wednesday afternoon and the purpose of this hearing is to find out how The Ritz Carlton Condominiums, and other businesses, didn’t receive water bills.
