BALTIMORE — A Baltimore officer says the police department retaliated against him when he reported an alleged misuse of resources during a marine unit salvage operation.

According to the federal lawsuit, officer Jeffrey Taylor says he and the marine unit responded to calls about a boat docked at the harbor.

He says the boat was damaged and leaking fuel into the water, but he says the unit's leader did not contact the coast guard, nor did he work to clean up the spill.

Taylor says when he told a superior officer what happened, he was accused of being a "rat" and the unit's leader threatened to sue him.

At this point the department hasn't responded to the litigation.
